January 20, 2009 - Working on Projects

==Project_10.jpgWe are working on our projects and posting them. Everyone is working on a different composer and different style of project. Here are the types of projects we are working on: iStop Motion, Movies, Claymation, Legos, Hand-drawn pictures, Powerpoint presentation with video, and much more. We had stopped for a while, since we put on a musical in late November. It took awhile to decide on exactly we wanted to create. Here is the link to the videos. This year we added our own voicethread pages to discuss facts about our composers. We have over 39 different videos that will be posted. Many of us this is the first time we have used any of the software in creating our videos. t ----

November 9, 2009 - Skype with our students.

Today we did a "meet and greet," where we discussed our music composers and exchanged facts about our school.

September 30, 2009 - Selecting our Composer

This is the second year of the project. Today all the classes are selecting their music using "Hooked on Classics." We listened to all the songs and selected what song we liked, that will tell us what composer each group of students will be studying. The students can be by themselves or in groups of twos or threes.

December 4, 2008 - Voicethread and Podcasts

We listened to the "Classics for Kids" podcasts and made voicethreads today. Mrs. Egofske's class (51=3A) listened on individual headsets, while Mr. Hope's class (52=3A) listened as a class. We all commented on the voicethread. It was hard finding the fact that was incorrect. But, we had fun posting our answers, we can't wait to see how well we did.

We are working hard on all our projects, there are twenty-one projects in total. Some students are finishing up editing, while others are taking pictures of their claymation and importing them to iMovie. We will be slowing down a bit, due to days off and the show WONKA being presented at our school. Our target date to finish is December. We have no school the week of Thanksgiving due to Parent-Teacher conferences. We are really excited that IW has posted their voicethreads. As students finish their projects, other students will post voice threads. They look increible.

We now have to decide what kind of multi-media project we want to use with our music. Students are working hard with all the various media possibilities: Legos, Claymation, Movie, Drawings, or Flash. It is exciting to be doing so many different mulit-media projects. Here is a short video of one class working.

October 7, 2008

We listened to our music and selected thirty seconds of the composition. We edited our sound files and selected the section we wanted to use for our multi-media project.

We skyped with Mrs. Muench's third grade classes to meet them and tell them of our progress with the composer project. They have already started listening to the podcasts about our composers. This was so exciting that we have connected with the third graders. Now we have our work cut out, making multi-media projects with our composer's compositions.

October 3, 2008

We are working on simple facts about our composers, like when they were born and buried. We completed a google form so Mrs. Broos could make a google map of where they are buried.

September 28, 2008

After we selected the composer, we got into our groups to start a Google Earth project. Students will find the birth date, birth place, death date, and death place for our project. We used Google forms to collect all the information. Mrs. Broos created a timeline and made a movie with all our information about our composers. Here is a great site to find the grave:

First we selected a composer while listening to "Hooked on Classics." We are more concerned about the composition.

Here are students listening and deciding on what composer they want to study. This took the entire class period to listen to thirty-seven songs and choose a group. A lot of the songs are from commercials and cartoons.
